Winter Research Admissions 2026 (for Spring 2027)

Ph.D. admissions at IIIT Hyderabad are open for Winter 2026. Applications are invited for full-time and part-time Ph.D. from individuals with a passion for cutting-edge research aimed to transform industry and society by developing new theories, technologies, or applications in the following programmes.

Programmes & Eligibility

Applicants must satisfy the following criterion.

Minimum grade criteria: 60% or equivalent in qualifying degree would be needed for admission into all programs mentioned in the table below.

Admission Procedure

Applicants are first screened based on their application, which includes their academic performance in relevant subjects, standard exam scores (such as GATE), merit scholarships (such as CSIR-UGC NET) and CV/relevant work experience in IT industry/R&D labs. Shortlisted applicants are invited in person to the IIIT Hyderabad campus for a technical interview. Candidates are expected to be thoroughly prepared in basics and fundamentals of their qualified degree. Final selection is based on performance in the interview. The decision of the interview committee is final and binding.

How to Apply

Complete the online application process, which has two parts – Registration Form and Application Form. Please note that incomplete applications will be desk-rejected and not be considered even for the first level screening.

Documents required for application:
1. Resume,
2. Detailed marksheet of qualifying degree,
3. Photo
4. Statement of Purpose (SOP).
SOP should contain below points:
a.Why do you wish to pursue a Research based Programme?
b.What career option do you plan (at present) to pursue?
c.If you have some work experience, what kind of work were you engaged in and did that in some way help you decide on research?
d.For each research center preference that you opted, please add details on your motivation/experience for that center.

Tuition Fee and Financial Support

Tuition fees and financial support for the academic year 2026-27 is listed on this page.

  • NET/GATE qualified full time PhD students will be provided a monthly stipend between Rs.37,000-Rs.42,000 (through AICTE Doctoral Fellowship for GATE/NET qualified students, subject to AICTE guidelines)
  • Other Full-time Ph.D. students are given scholarships that provide a monthly stipend between Rs. 31,000/- to Rs. 35,000/- depending on the stage of the student in the Ph.D. program.
  • Ph.D. students may earn additional stipend by doing TA ship.
  • Ph.D students are provided generous travel support to present their published research work in reputed conferences.
  • Many of our Ph.D. students have been awarded corporate fellowships with higher stipend such as from Google, TCS and others.
